Championing Women, Children and Families

Magda's greatest passion and expertise is in advancing the health and well-being of women, children and families.  She believes that women and girls who are well and strong serve as anchors for healthier, safer and more prosperous communities. Magda consults with organizations and initiatives, local to global, to adapt ‘what works’ and champion comprehensive women’s health across the life course.

As CityMatCH Founder and former CEO, she continues to serve as Senior Advisor, to advance leadership, equity, and excellence in urban MCH practice.  She is a co-creator of the Perinatal Periods of Risk Approach (PPOR)  and co-lead the National Preconception Health and Health Care Initiative in its initial years.  

She has served She has served as a health impact consultant with the Zuckerberg San Francisco General/UCSF Solid Start Initiative, Missouri Foundation for Health, California Department of Public Health, Ohio Collaborative to Prevent Infant Mortality, and Milwaukee Life Course Initiative for Healthy Families.  She was a member of the Institute of Medicine Committee on Preventive Clinical Services for Women, whose recommendations became law under the Affordable Care Act. Currently, she serves on the US Health and Human Services Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Infant Mortality
